HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The United States Department of Commerce (DOC) announced a preliminary decision on its 11th administrative review (POR 11) of anti-dumping duties on Pangasius (tra) fish imported from Viet Nam.

The decision refers to tra fish, a species of catfish, which was imported from Viet Nam between August 2013 and July 2014

According to POR 11, Hung Vuong Corporation, one of the largest tra fish exporters to the United States, had to pay a duty rate of $0.36 per kilogram during the 2013-2014 period, a $0.61 decrease compared to the previous year.

Thuan An Production Trading and Service Co., Ltd. (TAFISHCO) had to pay duty at the highest rate of $0.84 per kilogram as it did not supply enough specific information to the DOC, a representative of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VESAP) said.

The average duty imposed on 16 other firms exporting tra fish to the American market was $0.6 per kilogram.

The new duties will, however, not take effect till the final decision is made. Relevant parties will have 30 days to reply before the final decision.

During the first nine month of this year, Viet Nam exported tra fish worth $1.16 billion, the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producer (VASEP) said, of which exports to the American market were worth $233 million.

The European Union, China, Colombia and the ASEAN, besides Mexico, Brazil and Saudi Arabia are the other key export markets of Viet Nam's tra fish. —VNS
