The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Chairman Kim Jong Un this morning said he was looking forward to a “wonderful dialogue” as he began his second working day with United States President Donald Trump in Ha Noi.

The two leaders are in Viet Nam’s capital city for the second DPRK – USA Summit, where talks will focus on lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and the complete denuclearisation of North Korea.

They sat down for questions from the press before their meeting.

President Trump expressed his desire for productive talks.

“"I’ve been saying very much from the beginning that speed is not that important to me," he said, implying the progress of the denuclearisation process.

“Speed is not important to me. What is important is that we do the right deal," Trump said.

Chairman Kim Jong Un said he was committed to the talks.

“Let me assure you that I will do my best to bring about a wonderful result today,” he said through a translator.

When a reporter asked if he felt confident he could come a deal with President Trump, Chairman Kim replied: “It’s too early to tell but wouldn’t say that I’m pessimistic. For what I feel right now, I do have a feeling that good results will come out.”

Trump said he that while he could not speak to what the results of Thursday’s summit might be, he was certain that in the long run they will “be together a lot”.
