HA NOI (VNS) — Exports of Vietnamese tra fish to the Japanese market have risen considerably since March, according to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.
From January 1 to March 15, tra fish exports to this market brought in over US$535,000, an increase of 3 per cent year on year, the association said.
Last year, Viet Nam exported approximately 25,000 tonnes of frozen fillets to Japan, placing the country seventh among such exporters.
However, experts suggested that the quality of Vietnamese seafood be improved so the nation can secure a firm foothold in the demanding Japanese market, which requires the development of sustainable aquaculture and clear labelling of product origin.—VNS
