Nearly 1.6 million international tourists visited Việt Nam in April, up approximately 60 per cent year on year, according to the General Statistics Office.
Cumulatively over the first four months, Việt Nam welcomed 6.2 million international tourists, representing a 68-per-cent increase compared to the same period in 2023 and a 3.9 per cent rise on the figure of post-COVID 2019.
Air travel remains the most popular mode of transport for visitors, accounting for 83.7 per cent of the arrivals during the period. Road travel came next with 13.8 per cent, followed by sea travel with 2.5 per cent.
The surge in arrivals, which can be attributed to favourable visa policy and increased tourism-promoting programmes, has led to a climb in revenue for service providers.
In the first four months, accommodation and catering services revenue is estimated to reach VNĐ237.3 trillion (US$10.8 billion), up 15.3 per cent year by year.
Travel services posted VNĐ19.4 trillion ($765 million) in revenue, up 49.3 per cent compared to the same period last year.
It was even more impressive that Hà Nội, Hội An in Quảng Nam Province and HCM City had been recently selected as three of the best cities in the world for walking tours by Guruwalk.
The list was compiled based on booking and search data from 800 cities in 120 countries collected on Guruwalk's website from April 2023 to April 2024. — VNS
