NINH THUAN (Biz Hub) — The Thong Thuan seafood processing company inaugurated a shrimp processing plant with an annual capacity of 6,500 tonnes of end products, in the central province of Ninh Thuan last week.
The US$13 million plant, the second one from the Thong Thuan Company, will employ 2,500 workers to produce high quality products meeting requirements of customers in such selective markets as Japan, Germany, France and the US.
In the first six months of this year, shrimp exports generated $1.8 billion, more than half the export value of the seafood industry, according to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Shrimp exports are expected to continue rising in the second half of the year. — VNS
