HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The 2015 Autumn Economic Forum will be held in the central province of Thanh Hoa on August 27, the head of the National Assembly's Economic Committee said during a press briefing in Ha Noi on Thursday.
Nguyen Van Phuc said the forum, themed "Vietnamese Economy - Integration and Sustainable Development," would aim to prepare content for a National Assembly Standing Committee report at the upcoming session in September.
The report will focus on assessing Viet Nam's integration progress since the country's membership in the World Trade Organisation.
The one-day forum will also evaluate the results of bilateral and multilateral commitments that Viet Nam has been involved in or is set to join.
Two keynote speeches will be delivered at the forum from representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the World Bank, concentrating on international economic integration, WTO commitments and their impact on the country's socio-economic growth, and prospects for a more comprehensive growth model.
Phuc said that this year there would be more discussions and debates with multi-dimensional views from economists and policy-makers, similar to what was done in previous sessions of the forum held by the National Assembly's Economics Commission.
Phuc said the country was entering a new wave of global integration, with requirements even higher than those needed for WTO membership.
Launched in 2012, the 2015 Autumn Economic forum will be the last one held during the 13th National Assembly.
"We hope to receive more contributions from economists and policy-makers, State management agencies and local authorities to help conduct unbiased assessments about the global integration of Viet Nam," Phuc said. — VNS
