Shipbuilder launches patrol vessel

DA NANG (Biz Hub) —The Song Thu shipyard, in cooperation with the Damen Group from the Netherlands, has launched a patrol vessel following a contract with the Military Logistics Department.

The ship, which is 22.35 metres long and 4.96 metres wide, was built to transport goods and can travel at 20 nautical miles per hour.

The Da Nang-based corporation, which is a major shipbuilder in Viet Nam, has exported various vessels including fast crew suppliers, rescue ships, salvage tugs, drive tugs and patrol vessels to the Middle East, South America, Europe and the domestic market, with an annual export volume of $55 million.

The company has earned VND1.5 trillion (US$71 million) in revenue till 2013.

Last year, the corporation provided a rescue ship for the Viet Nam Marine Police force. — VNS
