HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Samsung Viet Nam expects the value of its exports to touch US$28 billion by the end of 2014, said Shim Won Hwan, General Director of the Samsung Complex.

Hwan made the announcement at a meeting between the Samsung delegation and Minister of Information and Communication (MIC) Nguyen Bac Son in Ha Noi today.

As of October 31, Samsung VN has earned $21.5 billion in exports, representing 20 per cent of Viet Nam's total export value.

Hwan said that there are 66,000 labourers working in the company's two factories in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces, which produce electronic parts and accessories for Samsung smartphones. He added that 100,000 jobs will be added in the factories in the future.

The general director and the minister also discussed the issue of housing for the increasing number of labourers.

Hwan informed the minister that Samsung's CEO will visit Viet Nam next month to discuss the development of 4G mobile telecommunication technology with the Vietnamese government.

Minister Son said that Viet Nam expects to test 4G technology in 1800 MHz wavelength next year, and that the bidding process for the work will be held in 2016.

Son asked Samsung to develop strategies for producing devices for Viet Nam's domestic market and for export.
