HA NOI (Biz Hub) — A delegation from Russia attended a meeting on co-operation with Vietnamese enterprises yesterday in Ha Noi.

The Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Ha Noi organised the forum, held as an opportunity for companies to exchange information and seek investment.

Viet Nam was becoming an attractive market for Russian enterprises – especially those in renewable energy, industry, high technology, manufacturing and petrochemistry, said Pham Thi Thu Hang, general secretary of VCCI. Viet Nam was willing to create reasonable conditions for Russian enterprises, she added.

Russia had large economic and technological potential in manufacturing, new energy, mining, automation, industrial production and the supporting industry, she said. Viet Nam, on the other hand, had advantages in human resources, natural resources and geographic positioning.

Strozhaeva Lubov Viktorovna, head of the delegation, said Russian enterprises were ready to co-operate with Vietnamese enterprises.

Nguyen Tuan Hoa from Hanel Limited Company said Hanel wanted to work with Russian enterprises, which are superior in finance and advanced technology. Hanel wanted to learn from Russian businesses so it could co-operate more internationally.

Economic co-operation between Viet Nam and Russia has focused on commerce, investment, oil and gas, and electricity in recent years. The bilateral turnover between Viet Nam and Russia increased from US$500 million in 2001 to nearly $3 billion last year.

A free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the Eurasian Economic Union was signed in May, and is expected to increase co-operation between Viet Nam and the region. — VNS
