Advanced technologies, machinery and equipment in the plastics and rubber industry are on display at the Vietnam International Plastics and Rubber Industry Exhibition that opened on October 4 in HCM City.
VietnamPlas has attracted 520 exhibitors from 14 countries and territories, including Belgium, the Netherlands in Europe, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and Viet Nam.
Among the plastics machinery on display are polymer and injection moulding machines, recycling machines, blown film machines, bag making machines, and compact hybrid injection moulding machines.
Raw materials and chemicals for plastic and rubber production are also being showcased.
Speaking to the media, Nguyen Quoc Anh, chairman of the HCM City Rubber-Plastic Manufacturers Association, said Viet Nam’s plastic sector has enjoyed average growth of 15-17 per cent annually for the last 10 years.
It is expected to remain on the high growth trajectory in the coming years too, he said.
“Viet Nam does not produce advanced machinery for the plastic industry, so the exhibition offers a good opportunity for local manufacturers to access new technologies to reduce their production costs and improve competitiveness.”
Kee Ho Kim, overseas sales team general manager at Korea’s LS Mtron Ltd, said Viet Nam has achieved rapid growth in recent years and there is high growth potential for its plastic industry. Businesses have paid attention to investing in new technologies.
“Therefore we want to introduce Korea’s most advanced machines and equipment to the Vietnamese market.
“This is the first time we are participating in the exhibition. We expect to meet potential buyers at the event.”
Organised by the Viet Nam National Trade Fair and Advertising Company in co-operation with the Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co, VietnamPlas, held at the Sai Gon Exhibition and Convention Centre, will run until October 7. — VNS
