The People’s Committee of central Quang Tri Province has approved the development of two wind and solar power projects, expected to cost over VND2.7 trillion (US$118.5 million).
Under Decision No 1250/QD-UBND, signed by the committee’s chairman Nguyen Duc Chinh on Friday, Quang Binh Province’s Tan Hoan Cau Corporation was granted permission to construct the Huong Hiep 1 wind power plant project in Huong Hiep Commune, in the mountainous district of Dakrong.
With 12 wind turbines, the plant has a total capacity of 30MW, generating more than 126 million kWh of electricity per year on a site of nearly 8ha. The project will cost more than VND1.55 trillion, and is valid for 50 years. The plant is slated for completion in December 2020.
Meanwhile, the province’s Decision No 1247/QD-UBND allowed Ha Noi-based Licogi 13 JSC to build the LIG-Quang Tri solar power plant in two communes of Gio Hai and Gio Thanh, with a designed capacity of 49.5 MWp, generating 67,960 MWh of electricity each year.
Costing VND1.2 trillion, the 58ha-project is expected to be completed in June 2019.
The provincial authorities have agreed with a plan to build five wind power projects with a combined capacity of 150MW, which are expected to be put into operation by 2030. They are also seeking investment in 17 solar power projects with a total capacity of more than 930MW, to be built on a 1,400ha area. —VNS
