Novaland representatives distribute relief to people in disaster-hit central region

People in the central region are suffering from multipal multiple historical floods.

The business community is joining hands to provide relief to people in the central region, who have been severely hit by multiple storms and floods.

The storms, floods and resultant landslides have destroyed infrastructure in many places, houses and other structures have collapsed, trees have been felled, households have been left destitute, and many people are injured or dead.

To help people there overcome difficulties, the Government has decided to send 4,000 tonnes of rice to Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, and Quang Nam provinces.

In the last month, hundreds of charity trips and fundraising activities have been also organised by various organisations, the business community and individuals across the country, with food and other essential items and cash being sent to the victims.

Novaland Group raised VND15 billion from its staff and partners, and late last week it and the local Fatherland Front units in Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Binh and Quang Tri visited and directly handed over donations to people living in severely flood- and landslides-hit areas.

Accompanying the donations this time was support from Anova Safe Food in the form of 1,000 milk cartons.

Truong Thi Man, a farmer in Phu Ho Commune in Thua Thien-Hue’s Phu Vang District, said: “My son worked far from home for many years. He just came back recently. Unluckily, he died in the floods. We are heart-broken but have to try our best to overcome it. We have received condolences and support from neighbours and companies, and we are grateful for that support.”

Bui Ngoc Mua, 90, of Gio Linh District in Quang Tri lost all his 500kg of paddy in the floods.

“The flood came too quickly. I, my husband and a disabled child were not quick enough to save the paddy. We lost everything. We feel so grateful now to receive support from the charity delegation.”

People in central provinces receive relief including cash and food from Novaland Group

Novaland said it sent over 1,000 packages containing food, essential items and cash to people in the communes of Phu Ho and Phu Luong in Phu Vang District in Thua Thien-Hue Province, Quang Tien and Quang Minh communes in Ba Don Town in Quang Binh Province and Trung Son and Trung Hai communes in Gio Linh District in Quang Binh Province.

The delegation also visited families who lost members and property.

Novaland said many more programmes would be undertaken in the coming time to help the affect ted people overcome difficulties and resume their lives.

It will also aid students in flood areas whose books and clothes were swept away by the floods so that they can return soon to school.

Pham Thi Han, chairwoman of the Quang Binh Fatherland Front, said: “This year floods have had a serious impact in Quang Binh Proivnce province. Tens of thousands of houses and other assets were swept away. Local authorities and companies from all over the country have supported our people. We highly appriciated appreciated Novaland Group’s timely help to our people to overcome difficulties.”

Novaland is a giant property developer.

For years now, along with developing its business, the company has also organised numerous programmes to support students and others living in disadvantaged conditions.
