Minh Phu remains leading seafood exporter

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam's seafood sector earned an export turnover of more than US$6.72 billion in 2013, marking an increase of 9.6 per cent compared with 2012.

According to statistics from the Vietnam Customs Office, the US, the EU, Japan, China and South Korea were the biggest trading partners, but only exports to China and the US had strong growth rate of more than 25 per cent each.

The office also listed the top ten Vietnamese exporters who earned $1.57 billion, which is about 22.8 per cent of the sector's export value. Shrimp producer Minh Phu Seafood Corporation remained the leading exporter with revenues of nearly $411.6 million, equally to 7.84 per cent of the sector's export value.

It was followed by Vinh Hoan Corporation, one of the top Vietnamese processors and exporters of Pangasius fish (Pangasius Hypophthalmus), which earned $166.3 million.

The other eight included Stapimex, Quoc Viet Company Ltd, Cases, MPC–Hau Giang, AGF, HNV, Auvung Seafood and FMC. — VNS
