HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Construction of a central traffic junction project, expected to boost development in the district as well as Ha Noi's development, has begun in the capital city's Long Bien District.
The project, worth VND2.8 trillion (US$133.3 million), will play an important role in the city's traffic system as it serves local industrial zones and urban areas in the northern bank of Hong (Red) River.
Under the project, from now to the end of 2015, a six-lane overpass with a total length of nearly 810m will be built to connect National Road No.5 and an expanded section of the road running from Long Bien District to Dong Anh District. The overpass was designed to run over the district centre's roundabout, the Gia Lam-Yen Vien railway route and another railway route to get to the Duc Giang Petrol Store.
A roundabout and other supporting roads will also be constructed, including two residential roads running along the overpass, which will run under the Ha Noi-Dong Dang railway route.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony on Tuesday, Chairman of Ha Noi People's Committee Nguyen The Thao stressed on the importance of the project to the city's development.
He urged Him Lam Joint Stock Company, the investor of the project, to ensure progress of the project so that it can be completed by 2015.
Long Bien is a young district of Ha Noi, which was established in 2003 by forming from 10 communes and three towns of Gia Lam District. — VNS
