DA NANG (Biz Hub) – Japan's Kamui Company inaugurated its manufacturing plant of heat exchangers in the central city's Hoa Khanh Open Industrial Zone on Monday.

The $9-million plant, the third in Asia after the plants in Japan and China, has been built on an area of 11 hectares.

General Director of the company Mikio Juaman said the Da Nang-based plant will produce over 2,600 products per year, equal to a capacity of 183 tonnes of products.

He said the production aims at supplying Japanese and Vietnamese enterprises with local products and gradually replacing the imported products.

The city has developed a 100-hectare, US$150-million industrial park for Japanese businesses, aiming at inviting large investments from Japan in the coming years.

Japan has 60 projects worth $350 million in Da Nang. Japanese exports account for 37 per cent of the city's total imports, while 30 per cent of the city's industrial production value comes from Japanese FDI projects. — VNS
