A tangerine variety grown in Nam Son Commune, Tan Lac District in the northwestern province of Hoa Binh has been granted a collective trademark.

A ceremony to receive the title was held in the commune on Monday.

The district has recorded positive economic growth over the years, with agricultural production accounting for 33.7 per cent. The district has worked to bolster spearhead products by developing brands for local farm produce, including Tan Lac chayote, red pomelo and tangerine.

The commune is home to more than 80ha of tangerine trees, of which 20ha has been harvested.

Dinh Cong Su, chairman of the People’s Committee of Tan Lac District, said that it would further promote the tangerine trademark in the locality and build display spaces for tangerines and other local produce, along with raising the quality of Nam Son tangerines in particular and citrus from mountainous regions in general. — VNS
