HCMC cooperates with Mitsui to develop high technology

HCM City (Biz Hub) — The Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of HCM City (ITPC) signed an agreement to increase the use of high-tech in the work place with Japan's Mitsui & Co. Vietnam Ltd.

According to the agreement, signed on January 21 in HCM City, the two sides will cooperate to spread the use of high-tech applications in logistics, electronic health care (e-health), education and training. ITPC and the company will also hold investment and trade promotions, and develop projects to attract investors from abroad.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Le Manh Ha, vice chairman of HCM City People's Committee, said that Japanese investment in HCM City had been increasing each year, but has only reached third place among international investors in the city.

Also, Ha said that, at the moment, HCM City was carrying out promotions to attract investments from Japan, such as building manufacturing zones, industrial zones and hi-tech parks. He also expected that after the agreement, investments from Mitsui and other Japanese enterprises would increase in the coming years.

Until 2013, the total foreign investment in HCM City reached US$33 billion. Among this, was more than $11 billion from investment in industrial areas.

Japan now ranks third among international investors in the city, with investments of more than $3 billion. — VNS
