Hà Nội is focusing on disbursement for 226 public investment projects.
In the first months of 2024, although progress on construction sites in Hà Nội was affected by the Lunar New Year Holiday, the city’s disbursed capital still increased sharply compared to the same period last year.
This is because the city has implemented many measures to speed up construction progress from the first days of the year. Many construction sites were assigned shifts and construction crews throughout the Tết Holiday.
In particular, the Ring Road 4 - Capital Region project was mobilised with the involvement of the city’s entire political system and the determination of contractors so every task was accelerated faster than planned.
According to the Hà Nội People's Committee, as of early March, investment capital from the State budget managed by the locality reached VNĐ6.3 trillion, an increase of 25.1 per cent over the same period last year and reached 8.1 per cent of the 2024 plan.
The committee said that by 2024, Hà Nội will have 226 centralised public investment projects in basic construction, including 155 transitional projects with an investment of VNĐ205.5 trillion (capital disbursement plan in 2024 is VNĐ24.4 trillion). Meanwhile, 71 new projects are expected to start construction this year with a total investment of VNĐ7.2 trillion (the capital disbursement plan for the year is VNĐ1.1 trillion).
The transportation sector has 58 projects, accounting for 19.5 per cent of the capital plan. To date, key projects and works in the city still maintain a fast pace of construction, completing items earlier than planned.
The Hà Nội Children's Hospital construction project's phase 1 has a total investment of nearly VNĐ785 billion in Yên Nghĩa Ward, Hà Đông District. To date, the project has disbursed 42.8 per cent of its capital plan.
The Hà Nội Children's Palace project was started in March 2021 with a total investment of more than VNĐ1.3 trillion at CV1 Park and Lake in Cầu Giấy New Urban Area. To date, the project has disbursed 72.9 per cent of its capital plan. In addition, the city is continuing to attract investment.
In the first two months of the years, there have been 3,508 newly registered businesses in Hà Nội, down 14 per cent over the same period last year. However, registered capital reached VNĐ49.1 trillion, posting 32 per cent year-on-year increase.
In the two-month period, the city carried out dissolution procedures for 634 businesses, an increase of 7 per cent over the same period last year. More than 13,500 businesses registered to temporarily suspend operations, an increase of 53 per cent; and 4,014 businesses re-opened, representing 43 per cent year-on-year increase.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Quyền said that the committee directed departments, branches and the Hà Nội Trade and Tourism Investment Promotion Centre to continue maintaining promotional activities, promote investment and introduce products, tourism, craft villages, and "One Commune, One Products" (OCOP) products to tourists and investors to seek co-operation from many domestic and foreign businesses.
“In recent times, thanks to the active participation of units and localities, the capital has always strongly attracted investment into the area and attracted many potential partners,” said Quyền. — VNS
