Exports to India rise sharply

HA NOI (VNS)— Two-way trade between Viet Nam and India hit US$498.4 million in April, up 77.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.

The General Department of Customs reports that Viet Nam's exports to India hit $247.8 million, an increase of 105 per cent, while imports from India rose 57.7 per cent to $250.6 million.

As a result, the trade deficit declined by 91.7 per cent.

Overall bilateral trade in the first four months of the year totalled $1.804 billion, a year-on-year increase of 48.8 per cent.

During this period, Viet Nam's exports to India were valued at $780.2 million, an increase of 71 per cent. The $1.024 billion worth of imports from India represents an increase of 35.4 per cent. The trade deficit has fallen by 8.7 per cent.-VNS
