NINH BINH (Biz Hub) — French supermarket chain Big C yesterday opened a new outlet in Ninh Phuc Commune, northern Ninh Binh Province, lifting its presence to 23 outlets across Viet Nam.
The Big C Ninh Binh, with an investment cost of VND370 billion (US$17.6 million), covers a total area of nearly 17,000 square metres, of which the supermarket occupies 4,650 square metres, stocking about 40,000 varieties of merchandise ranging from food, household utensils, electric appliances to comestics. The retail space will be leased both to domestic and international brands such as Ninomaxx Concept, The Blues, John Henry, Unicol, SK Time, Casio and Lotteria.
The facility will provide employment for about 500 local labourers and will also use green technology to reduce energy consumption by up to 20 per cent.
The domestic retail market is becoming more and more competitive with big players like Big C, Metro Cash&Carry, Lotte and Parkson increasing their investments to expand distribution and market share. — VNS
