The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta Province of Kien Giang is soliciting investment in industrial parks and other projects as a means to boost socio-economic development.
It is eyeing investment, especially in infrastructure, in the Thanh Loc, Thuan Yen, Xeo Ro, Tac Cau, and Kien Luong II industrial parks, workers’housing, and a service and trading area at the Thanh Loc IP.
It is also seeking investment in farm produce and fisheries processing and preservation, food and beverages, consumer goods, packaging, wood processing, electronics, garment and textile, footwear, construction materials, plastic, glass, and other projects that could exploit the province’s raw materials and other strengths.
According to the Kien Giang Economic Zone Authority, the province’s IPs are mostly located in deprived areas, and so investors there will enjoy the most generous incentives for land lease and use, taxes, and credit and labour training support.
It said conditions would also be created to ensure their long-term stability.
Land rents in the province’s IPs are lower than elsewhere in the Mekong Delta, it said.
Local authorities said Kien Giang enjoys advantages like availability of raw materials for agro-forestry and fisheries and construction.
It also has an abundant workforce with over 1.1 million young workers, they said.
Besides, the Thanh Loc IP is only 5km from Rach Gia city and the airport and the Thuan Yen IP is 6km from Ha Tien town, making them very convenient for investors. The remaining IPs too are well located in terms of access.
Thanh Loc (Chau Thanh) and Thuan Yen (Ha Tien) parks have attracted 25 projects with a total investment of more than VND6.24 trillion (US$274.6 million), including some large ones such as a VND1.49 trillion MDF wood processing project, a VND1.01 trillion beer plant, and a VND761 billion footwear factory.
Chairman of the province People’s Committee, Pham Vu Hong, said Kien Giang would create the most conducive conditions for enterprises.
With its motto of "Potential and economic strength of Kien Giang is an opportunity for enterprises", the province is committed to consistently supporting enterprises under all circumstances. — VNS
