HA NOI (Biz Hub)— The Ministry of Industry and Trade launched a national database yesterday in order to provide official information to economic organisations and enhance State management.
The database includes information about industrial production, inventories, production capacity, retail sales, exports and imports, according to director of the Industry and Trade Information Centre Do Van Chien.
It also provides data about specific products and markets from the industry and trade ministry, General Statistics Office, General Customs Department and provincial industry and trade departments.
Enterprises can use it to create business plans and State management agencies can use it to analyse the market, Chien said.
Deputy Minister Ho Thi Kim Thoa said the database system needed to be updated more frequently and include deeper analysis in the project's second phase (2013-15).
The project was initiated in 2010 under the domain name eitdata.moit.gov.vn.
The database contains 74 indicators concerning industry, the domestic market, foreign markets, industrial and commercial potentiality and development and other relevant information.
About 65 indicators have been updated with data during 2009-11 and others include information from 2012 and the first five months of this year. — VNS
