HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The construction of the long-delayed US$5-billion Long Son Petrochemical Complex project in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province is expected to start later in 2016.
Roongrote Rangsiyopash, president and CEO - SCG, told a press briefing in HCM City on July 14 that the shareholder structure of the project would be finalised first. Then the project will move into the construction phase.
SCG is developing several new projects, such as a ceramic tile production unit in the north, and expanding an existing craft paper plant in the south. This will boost the group's assets in Việt Nam to more than US$1 billion from the current US$860 million.
"Our future for Việt Nam is to develop plans according to our direction, which focuses on sustainable development in all areas, including business operations, products and services and social responsibility projects," he said.
Rangiyopah took part in the 10th anniversary of the Sharing the Dream Scholarship Programme in partnership with Tuổi Trẻ newspaper to support poor students who perform well academically. About 360 students received scholarships, each worth VNĐ4 million (US$180), increasing the number of beneficiaries to 4,000. — VNS
