A trade mission comprising executives from more than 40 Belgian companies will visit Viet Nam from December 4 to 9 to explore business opportunities.

The visitors will be from sectors like agriculture, food, chemicals, wood, ICT, architecture, engineering, environmental technology, services, infrastructure, dredging and others.

During their visit a seminar on “Urbanization: Sustainable Growth” will be held at the Melia Hotel in Ha Noi on December 8 to showcase Belgian know-how in urbanisation, green growth and infrastructure.

The event will be followed by a networking lunch and B2B meetings, which will offer Vietnamese entrepreneurs the possibility to interact directly with the visitors.

The trip will be organised by the Flanders Investment and Trade and Brussels Invest and Export, and supported by East Flanders Province.

Trade between Viet Nam and Belgium has been growing steadily in recent years. In the first five months of this year Belgian exports were worth 180 million euros (US$192.24 million) and imports, $772.16 million.

Last year the region of Flanders accounted for over 87 per cent of Belgian exports to Viet Nam, and Brussels for 1.5 per cent.

The EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement, to take effect in 2018, is expected to further boost trade and investment ties between Viet Nam and Belgium. — VNS
