A delegation of Ba Ria-Vung Tau will travel to Japan and South Korea from October 17 to 26 to call for investment from these two countries into the southern province.
Nguyen Thanh Long, deputy chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the province planned to seek investment from South Korea and Japan in key sectors, including industrial production, logistics infrastructure and tourism.
Focus would be placed on developing renewable energy such as solar and wind power and building a logistics centre in Cai Mep Ha Industrial Zone.
Long said that in South Korea, the delegation will work with the Vietnamese Embassy and the Korea Trade – Investment Promotion Agency and hold an investment promotion in Seoul.
In Japan, the delegation will work with Japan International Cooperation Agency, Mitshubishi Heavy Industry in Tokyo while visiting the waste treatment plant of Kyoei and the smart city model of Osaka Gas in Osaka.
To date, the southern province has attracted more than 340 foreign direct investment projects from around 30 countries and territories with a total registered capital of US$27.3 billion. As of mid-September, around $13.8 billion was disbursed. — VNS
