LONG AN (Biz Hub) — Avery Dennison Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS), a global leader in apparel and footwear labeling and packaging solutions, on January 18 opened a new facility in the southern province of Long An as part of efforts to expand its business in the country.

Built at a cost of US$30 million, the plant in Long Hau Industrial Park will serve the increasing demands of the many global garment and textile and footwear brands.

"We are excited about the long-term opportunities for the apparel and footwear industry in Viet Nam, coupled with the projected growth from the Trans-Pacific Partnership," Deon Stander, vice president and general manager of the company, said.

He added that the investment demonstrates the company's confidence in growing together with Vi?t Nam and local customers.

The plant will enable Avery Dennison RBIS to accelerate its innovative heat-transfer embellishment capabilities and overall speed to market to better serve leading global brands and retailers.

According to the company, the new facility will feature its latest manufacturing innovations and proprietary developments, including the new component weaving technology, available for the first time in Asia.

Avery Dennison RBIS said it would continue to invest in new innovations and technologies to increase its capacities and help customers elevate their products and brands.

The plant will employ 1,200 workers.

Since coming to Viet Nam in 2013, Avery Dennison RBIS has invested $40 million in the country to build the new facility, an earlier one in Binh Duong Province and a distribution centre in Binh Tan District, HCM City. — VNS
