HCM CITY (Biz Hub) – From April 15 Vissan will only sell pork meeting Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) standards.
Its general director, Van Duc Muoi, said the company has 146 outlets in traditional markets in HCM City and 309 in supermarkets in the city and neighbouring provinces.
The company would sell around 70 tonnes of VietGap pork a day, he said.
All Vissan's pig farms and the pork it sources are closely monitored by authorities, and the company itself performs tests for banned substances and carefully checks pigs before buying, he said.
Its plan to sell only meat meeting VietGap standards would provide pig farmers the incentive to apply good agricultural practices themselves, he said. - VNS
