HA NOI (Bizhub) — Sufficient support industries would help attract more foreign direct investment, form industrial products with a high value-added factor, and bridge the gap between domestic enterprises and the global supply chain.
This was according to deputy director of the Ha Noi Department of Industry and Trade Dao Thu Vinh during a signing ceremony between the municipal Trade Promotion Centre and Thailand Reed Tradex Co on Thursday.
They will organise the Viet Nam Manufacturing Expo 2013 and Industrial Components&Subcontracting Viet Nam 2013 in the capital from September 4-6.
The city's support industries had developed encouragingly over the past five years, Vinh said, adding that some local enterprises had become part suppliers of foreign investors, especially those from Japan.
In an international economic context, there remained a large gap in production capacity and technology between Vietnamese parts producers and those from regional countries, she said.
Vinh called for domestic part producers to participate in the two forthcoming exhibitions, which would be a good opportunity for them to access advanced machine and technology in order to improve not only their management capacities but also their products' quality to better meet strict standards of foreign manufactures.
Chances to meet new buyers and expand markets would also be included, she said.
Reed Tradex Co deputy managing director Duangdej Yuaikwarmdee emphasised the importance of technological innovation, a key factor that helped Vietnamese manufacturers improve product quality and then ensure their sustainable competition.
Reed Tradex's Viet Nam Manufacturing Expo 2013 will mix four general exhibitions on machine and technology for specific industries including rubber and plastic, mold, die making and automotive parts manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Industrial Components&Subcontracting Viet Nam 2013 will comprise over 30 booths, enabling domestic firms in support industries to showcase their products with foreign buyers.— VNS
