A representative of the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV) has predicted the number of passengers passing through ACV’s airports will exceed 112 million this year, up by 8 million from last year.

The forecast is based on an optimistic domestic economic forecast, GDP reaching about 6.6 - 6.8 per cent and on the basis of positive assessments about the Vietnamese air transport market’s growth from international organisations and associations, according to ACV.

The Airport Council International (ACI) predicted that Viet Nam would be among the fastest-growing markets from 2016-2040, said the representative.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) also put Viet Nam among the five fastest-growing markets, reaching 150 million passengers by 2035

The ACV would continue to invest in, upgrade and renovate airport infrastructure this year, said an ACV leader.

The ACV’s revenue last year exceeded the goal by 11 per cent and was up 18 per cent compared to the previous year.

The revenue growth was mainly from core business activities including aviation and non-aviation services and sales at VND16.27 trillion (US$699 million) and financial revenue of VND1.61 trillion ($70 million). — VNS
