HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The southern economic and business hub HCM City hopes to reach US$35 billion in export revenue this year, an 8 to 10 per cent increase over last year, according to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade.
To reach the goal, the city has steered businesses to focus on shipping industrial and processed goods with high added value.
The businesses were also advised to strengthen their presences in Europe, the Americas and Asia, while seeking potential new outlets in Africa and Oceania.
In 2014, excluding crude oil, the city's export revenues reached $27.8 billion, up 12 percent from 2013.
In the first month of 2015, it raked in more than $2 billion from overseas shipments, a 9.1 percent increase on the year. — VNS
