Profit taking sends shares down

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares nationwide lost ground this morning and profit-taking drove up trading value.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index shed 0.72 per cent to 635.23 points.

The value of transactions doubled that of yesterday morning's session to nearly VND2.3 trillion (US$108.4 million). Trading volume also climbed to 131.5 million shares.

Nearly two-thirds of the 30 blue chips tracked by the VN30 Index lost value, while only eight managed to rise. The index closed 0.69 per cent lower to 674.12 points.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also slid 1.13 per cent to 88.68 points on a turnover of VND816 billion ($38.4 million).

The HNX30 Index, tracking the exchange's 30 largest shares by capitalisation and liquidity, declined 1.24 per cent, reaching 183.06 points. — VNS
