VN shares close mixed

HA NOI (Bizhub) — Vietnamese shares ended mixed on the two local bourses this morning, while banks made slight gains after a short pause yesterday.

The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange rose slightly to end at 573.41 points, while the HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange inched down 0.2 per cent to close at 80.48 points.

Among the nine listed banks, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BID), Asian Commercial Bank (ACB), Eximbank (EIB) and Military Bank (MBB) were the gainers.

BID gained 1.5 per cent, ACB inched up 0.5 per cent, EIB was up one per cent and MBB rose 1.4 per cent.

Other firms in the financial sector also made gains to lift the market. Leading insurers such as Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) Bao Minh Insurance Corporation (BMI) and BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) rose 0.9 per cent, 0.4 per cent and 4.4 per cent, respectively.

Brokerage firms rose slightly. HCM City Securities Corporation (HCM) inched up 0.6 per cent, Sai Gon Securities Incorporation (SSI) rose 0.9 per cent and Bao Viet Securities Corporation (BVS) gained 0.8 per cent.

FLC Group (FLC) was the most active stock, with more than 7.5 million of its shares being traded, and remained unchanged from yesterday.

The two local bourses traded more than 74.4 million shares, worth VND1.24 trillion (US$55 million). — VNS
