National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines received the 11th Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, the last of its 787-9 Dreamliner order with Boeing, last Saturday, at Noi Bai International Airport.

The plane was put into use on Sunday on the Ha Noi-HCM City route.

Vietnam Airlines deputy director general Le Hong Ha said the 11 “dream liners” will help the carrier provide four-star services for passengers.

Dinesh Keskar, senior vice president of Asia Pacific and India Sales for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said with the 11th Boeing 787-9, the carrier is among the airlines with the largest 787 fleet in the Asia-Pacific region, which affirms its commitment to becoming a leading carrier in the region.

Vietnam Airlines received its first Dreamliner in July 2015. Besides the domestic route between Ha Noi and HCM City, the Boeing 787-9s are being used for international flights from Ha Noi and HCM City to London (the United Kingdom), Frankfurt (Germany), Tokyo (Japan), Beijing (China), and Sydney and Melbourne (Australia).

From May 13 to June 30, the carrier will use the aircraft on its flights between Ha Noi and Singapore to meet high travel demand during the summer.

So far, the fleet of Boeing 787s has flown 11,400 flights with more than 60,700 flying hours, transporting 2.13 million passengers. The carrier will receive eight 787-10 Dreamliners in the coming years. – VNS
