The signing ceremony took place at the head office of the Israeli carrier in Tel Aviv.
Under the agreement, from November this year, customers can purchase with either Vietnam Airlines or LY for flights between Ha Noi/HCM City and Tel Aviv via Bangkok and Hong Kong
Vietnam Airlines will operate flights between Ha Noi/HCM City and Bangkok/Hong Kong, while LY will run services between Bangkok/Hong Kong and Tel Aviv.
This new codeshare aims to enhance flight connectivity between Tel Aviv to both Ha Noi and HCM City via Bangkok and Hong Kong.
Speaking at the event, Vietnam Airlines General Director Duong Tri Thanh expressed delight at launching the partnership on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties between the two nations, helping the carrier increase its presence in the Middle East.
“The forging of a codeshare deal significantly enhances passenger convenience and boosts Vietnam Airlines’ presence in the Middle East. Our recent co-operation with several international airlines has reaffirmed our ongoing commitment to bolstering our services and expanding our reach beyond our network,” he said.
EI AI Israel Airlines CEO Gonen Usishkin said: “Over the last number of years, there has been growing traffic between Israel and Viet Nam and it was important that the two flag carriers be able to offer our combined passengers a product that includes flying both the flag carriers.”
Vietnam Airlines operates 94 routes to 21 domestic and 29 international destinations while EI AI flies to 36 destinations from Israel. – VNS
