Flight VJ837 flight of budget airline Vietjet from Seoul to Nha Trang landed in Cam Ranh International Airport on Wednesday, carrying the 10 millionth passenger to Khanh Hoa Province.

This event marks the successful conclusion of provincial Tourism Year 2019. Of the total, 4.4 million passengers flew with Vietjet.

Vietjet has the highest frequency of operations at Cam Ranh International Airport with more than 30 flights per day.

The firm has recently expanded its international flight network, connecting the coastal city Nha Trang to attractive domestic and foreign destinations such as Ha Noi, HCM City, Da Nang, Seoul, Busan and Taipei.

"These routes meet the travel demands of citizens and visitors and contribute to promoting trade and integration in the region," Vietjet said in a statement.

With Vietjet's development strategy and sufficient support from local authorities, Khanh Hoa's tourism and trade will be promoted in the future, attracting more domestic and foreign tourists, it said.

Khanh Hoa received 6.5 million tourist arrivals in the first 11 months of 2019, a yearly increase of 13 per cent, with nearly 3.3 million international arrivals, up 29 per cent year-on-year, according to the provincial Department of Tourism.

Tourism turnover was estimated at VND25 trillion (more than US$1 billion), a year-on-year increase of 24.6 per cent, it said, adding that tourists from China, Russia and South Korea made up a large proportion of international travellers to the locality.

The province hopes to welcome 8.5 million tourists, including 3.5 million foreigners by 2020, and earn VND70 trillion in tourism revenue. — VNS
