Chipmaker Intel said Viet Nam plays a crucial role in achieving the company's goals thanks to its fastest-growing economy.
At a recent meeting, a representative of Intel affirmed that the computer market in Viet Nam is expected to recover in the second half of 2023 and the digital transformation process of businesses is ongoing in sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, and manufacturing.
To stay ahead of these trends, Intel will introduce numerous new products and solutions tailored to the specific needs of Viet Nam.
The banking, telecommunications, manufacturing, education, and government sectors will receive prioritised attention from Intel through suitable solutions. The corporation will also collaborate closely with partners to bring programmes and events to consumers.
Notably, the Intel Tech Camp, considered the most significant IT event for consumers in Viet Nam, will return this year after its successful edition in September last year, attracting over 12,000 participants, the company confirmed.
With the vision of "Creating the Future for both Intel and Viet Nam," Intel has invested a total of US$1.5 billion in its Viet Nam factory, creating around 6,500 jobs in high technology (including approximately 2,400 Intel employees) and contributing $76.3 billion in export value from 2010 to the present.
In the first quarter of 2023, Intel accounted for 50 per cent of the total export turnover of the HCM City High-Tech Park (SHTP), 15 per cent of the country's electronic component/electronics export turnover, and approximately 18 per cent of the total export turnover of HCM City.
Regarding social responsibility, Intel and the Intel Foundation aim to positively impact communities and the world through collaborative and innovative programmes aligned with their commitment to "Do Something Wonderful."
Intel has invested approximately $22 million in programmes supporting education, environment, safety, and health in Viet Nam, including VND10 billion to support Viet Nam's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 60 per cent of the corporation's employees are volunteers in CSR programmes, dedicating over 200,000 hours to make a positive difference in people's lives.
In recent years, IPV has also made efforts to minimise environmental impacts and pursue sustainable development. The Intel factory in Viet Nam has saved over 40 million kWh of electricity, utilised 2.68 million kWh of green energy, reduced net carbon emissions by over 13,500 tonnes, treated and recycled 100 per cent of hazardous waste, reclaimed 95 per cent of general waste, and saved and recycled one million cubic metres of water. — VNS
