HCM CITY ― US implant dentist Carl Misch will lecture at an oral health seminar in HCM City on July 19.

The conference is being co-organised by the Viet Nam Odonto-Stomatology Association, the HCM City Society of Dental Implantology, the US BioHorizons Implant Systems and SDDS Company.

"No other individual has done more to transform contemporary dental practice than Carl Misch," said Frederick Abel, director of the Peace Dental Centre in Ha Noi.

"His upcoming training programme will help move dental practice in Viet Nam to a higher and more internationally competitive level."

Misch, who is the director of the Misch International Implant Institute, has had presentations in 47 countries worldwide to over 10,000 dentists.

Misch's institute has been in continuous operation for 30 years in the US, where he has trained about 4,500 dentists in a hands-on, yearly forum on implant dentistry.

He has held 23 faculty positions at 11 universities domestically and internationally. He has received over 50 post graduate honours and awards, including two honorary PhD degrees for contributions to implant dentistry.

He has more than 10 patents related to implant dentistry and is the co-inventor of the BioHorizons Maestro Dental Implant System.

Misch's writing has also had a transforming effect on the global implant dentistry sector. He has authored and co-authored 250 scholarly articles and has been an advisor and editor on more than 10 dental journals.

His most significant writing is the book Contemporary Implant Dentistry, which is one of the most popular books in dental history. The book has been translated into many European and Asian languages, including Japanese and South Korean.

He also wrote Dental Implant Prosthetics (Elsevier), one of the most sought-after set of books for implant practitioners.

He co-founded the International College of Oral Implantologists, which has affiliates in over 90 countries. He is also active as a leader in the American College of Oral Implantoloty, the American Board of Oral Implantology and other dental organisations.
