The International School @ ParkCity Hanoi (ISPH) was officially opened on Friday in Hà Nội, bringing the newest international school to the capital over the past three years.

ISPH becomes the second international school launched by the ParkCity Group, following in the footsteps of the International School @ ParkCity Kuala Lumpur (ISPKL), which opened in Malaysia in 2011. ISPKL now has more than 1,100 students representing over 50 nationalities and was recently graded “outstanding” in all eight standards and awarded Gold status by ISQM Accreditation (International Schools Quality Mark).

Both schools employ teachers of the very highest calibre. ISPH’s Leadership Team is able to draw on extensive international experience, including many years working together previously at ISPKL.

Located in ParkCity Hanoi urban area in the western fringe of Hà Nội, the school campus is 2.4 ha with the main academic building on four floors. International standard facilities include fully equipped classrooms and science laboratories, creative arts studios, drama and dance studios and spacious outdoor areas.

ISPH offers an extensive programme of study for students aged 3 to 18 years, based on the UK National Curriculum, providing internationally renowned standards for learning in English, Mathematics and Science, and the foundation subjects. In addition, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) offers a truly cross-curricular programme of study. The Secondary curriculum is based on the UK National Curriculum with students working towards the globally recognised Cambridge International Examinations at IGCSE and A-levels.

Lessons at ISPH are taught in English, however students also have the opportunity to develop skills in languages such as Spanish and Vietnamese, with additional languages such as Japanese also available as part of a comprehensive after school programme.

Gareth Ward, the UK Ambassador to Vietnam said he has had a chance in this first year of working in Việt Nam to see the schools and universities here, and the potential for international co-operation.

“You may already know that there are around 12,000 Vietnamese university students studying in the UK, and maybe you know there are 60 different joint degree programmes between the UK and Việt Nam and universities here. And equally importantly, places like Hà Nội and the educational authorities here are promoting and pushing forward the use of international curriculum from the UK with schools and international schools like your wonderful school here at ParkCity,” he added.

Rik Millington, the Principal of ISPH said: “It is certainly a day on which our founding students, parents and staff can feel very proud. Proud to be international. Proud to offer a World-class British curriculum. Proud to now be in beautiful Viet Nam. Proud to be in Ha Noi. Proud to be in Ha Dong. Proud to be in beautiful ParkCity, and proud to be ISPH.”

ISPH is growing quickly, with over 80 students from 10 nationalities now enrolled in the school’s first 8 classes. — VNS
