Thai Vietjet resumed flights between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) and Phuket international airports on Saturday to serve passengers demand, making it the first and only airline resuming the route to date.
The move followed the announcement by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) to reopen Phuket International Airport for domestic flights.
The airline is complying with safety and healthy procedures including measuring passengers and crews’ body temperature, social distancing at the airport and on board flights. Passengers must wear face masks for the duration of the journey.
Thai Vietjet has offered one-year complimentary travel to front line medical staff, including all members of Thai COVID-19 Prevention & Control Committee and all doctors and nurses of 160 appointed hospitals for treatment of COVID-19 patients in Thailand as a way to appreciate the heroes who have been working hard to prevent and control the pandemic.
Currently, Thai Vietjet is providing flights on routes between Bangkok and Chiang Mai,Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi and Udon Thani.
Thai Vietjet was established in Thailand in 2013. It is a joint venture between Vietjet and Thai airline Kan Air. Vietjet holds 49 per cent stake, while the remainder is owned by the Thai partner. — VNS
