South Korea's CJ Group on Wednesday donated 3,600 vouchers worth a total VND1.8 billion (US$77,250) to the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee to pay tribute to frontline medical staff in the fight against COVID-19.
This donation is part of the group's programme called 'Grateful for the doctors and people of Viet Nam in the fight against COVID-19' which gives away 4,200 vouchers to frontline staff in the battle against the pandemic.
The vouchers can be used at CGV cinemas and TOUS les JOURS cafes nationwide.
The remaining vouchers worth VND200 million will be awarded to those who participate in the 'We thank you, Vietnamese!' programme on the official fan page of CJ Vietnam.
Chang Bok Sang, chairman and CEO of CJ Vietnam, said over the past 20 years, with the support of the Government and the confidence of Vietnamese consumers, CJ Group is no longer a foreign business but has become a domestic business, for domestic consumers.
"Although in this COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of enterprises have been heavily affected and CJ Group is not an exception. But with great support and rescuing policies from the State, we strongly believe that Viet Nam's economy will quickly recover from the pandemic," he said.
Earlier, CJ Vietnam launched a voluntary donation campaign among its employees. As a result, more than 2,000 sets of TOUS les JOURS cakes and hundreds of necessities worth almost VND320 million were sent to frontline places such as Ha Noi Central Tropical Hospital, Cu Chi field hospital, concentrated quarantine areas in HCM City and the Fatherland Front of Binh Duong Province.
CJ began investing in Viet Nam in 1998 and has established a presence in various fields including food and food service, logistics, animal feed and livestock, and entertainment. The group has thus far invested about $800 million in Viet Nam. — VNS
