TH Group began construction of a high-tech dairy farm project in Quang Hoa District in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang late last week.
With a total investment capital of VND2.54 trillion (US$109.7 million), the project comprises a 63.7ha dairy farm, set to raise 10,000 cows, and a processing plant with an annual capacity of 49,000 tonnes of milk.
Once operational, the project is expected to contribute VND600 billion to Cao Bang’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) and more than VND200 billion to the local budget, while generating jobs and raising income for some 500 direct workers, and thousands of indirect labourers.
Part of Cao Bang’s smart agriculture development plan for the 2020-25 period, the dairy project uses cutting-edge technology of Israel, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Japan.
TH Group will continue to pursue the close-loop production system in the project and coordinate with local farmers in developing material areas.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien asked local authorities and competent agencies to facilitate the implementation of the project.
Last month, TH Group also began construction of the largest dairy cow project in the Central Highlands. It plans to carry out similar projects in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, aiming to expand its cow herd to 400,000 by 2025. — VNS
