HCM City-based Sofitel Saigon Plaza has unveiled its mooncake collection, a combination of the charm of local Vietnamese culture with the timeless elegance of French art de vivre, ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival next month.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, which falls on September 29 this year.
This season, the hotel presents two exquisite mooncake boxes.
The round-shaped Emotion box looks like a fashionable handbag, resembling a full moon, symbolising fullness and contentment in East Asian culture. The box has four mooncakes, including tiramisu with salted egg yolk, coconut custard, matcha and red bean, and jambon with eight treasures. It is priced at nearly VNĐ1.4 million (US$58.5).
Designed like a stylish briefcase, the rectangular-shaped Magnifique box offers the same flavours as the Emotion box, with the additional flavours of scallop XO and pandan lotus seed. The box is priced at VNĐ1.65 million ($69).
The boxes are adorned with exquisite drawings of lotuses in white and gold, exuding a sense of timeless allure.
The mooncakes pay homage to traditional tastes while adding a modern twist. Each mooncake is crafted with precision and passion, ensuring a harmonious balance of Eastern and Western flavours.
From now to August 13, those who pre-book and pay in full will receive a delightful 10 per cent discount. In addition, all Accor Plus members will be offered a 10 per cent discount.
