Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has appointed Nguyen Chi Thanh general director of the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC).

Born in 1972, Thanh holds a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree from the Japan National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS).

On June 30, 2015, he was appointed deputy general director of the SCIC.

Before joining the SCIC, Thanh worked at the State Bank of Viet Nam’s Foreign Exchange Management Department and was in charge of restructuring foreign debts and forming foreign exchange policies.

He started working at the SCIC as deputy head of its strategy committee in 2006 and was appointed committee head in November 2008.

In 2010, Thanh was appointed head of the Risk Management Department, director of the SCIC’s southern branch and head of Investment Management Department 3.

Besides his duties at the SCIC, Thanh also represents the State and is a member of the board of directors at Vietnam Dairy Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) and vice chairman of Tien Phong Plastic Joint Stock Company (NTP). — VNS
