SaVi Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (SaVipharm) on January 9 broke ground for a high-tech R&D Centre at its factory in HCM City’s Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone.
The VND200 billion (US$8.63 million) R&D centre would be equipped with technologies and machines imported from advanced countries, including testing equipment, pilots and auxiliary system, Tran Tuu, SaVipharm’s chairman and general director, said.
In addition, SaVipharm’s oral solid dosage (OSD) factory will be invested with corresponding equipment to ensure that the centre’s research is quickly converted into commercial production.
SaVipharm has received an EU-GMP Certificate for the factory.
In 2010 and 2017, the Japanese Ministry of Health granted GMP certification to SaVipharm.
The company, in 2011, duly became the first in the country to export drugs to Japan.
“Obtaining the EU-GMP certificate will pave the way for the company to export its products to new markets,” Tuu said.
Speaking at the ground-breaking, Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong hailed the company’s achievements in recent years.
“Setting up the R&D centre is a right step. [It] will help produce new high-quality pharmaceutical products for both the domestic market and exports.”
Established in 2005, the company has successfully developed nearly 200 products which are approved for distribution.
