Samsung Electronics Viet Nam (SEV), Directorate of Vocational Education and South Korea-based Samsung Skills Training Centre signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Friday.

The agreement is aimed at facilitating the training and coaching of Vietnamese candidates and experts who will participate in the 45th World Skills Competition 2019 in Kazan, Russia.

This is the third time Samsung has partnered with Viet Nam in the field of international skills. The total budget funded by Samsung for training, travelling and accommodation is US$450,000.

With Samsung’s support, the Vietnamese delegation had won a bronze medal in IT software solutions in the 43rd and 44th World Skills Competition.

Under the MoU, contestants who will participate in the training programme will be directly selected by Samsung from among the most outstanding candidates of the National Skills Competition, which will be held from May 13-20.

This year, Samsung will switch to mechatronics, which is associated with the requirement of automation in the 4.0 era to prepare and assist Vietnamese human resources in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Mechatronics is a process in which a team of two implements automated process systems, such as processing, assembly, testing, inspection, transportation and logistics storage of production facilities.

Selected candidates will undergo training at the Samsung Skills Training Centre in Suwon, South Korea, within a year.

Speaking at the event, SEV vice president Bang Hyun Woo said, “By training Vietnamese candidates to achieve the highest results in the upcoming World Skills Competition, we hope to support skills improvement of the outstanding workforce of Viet Nam to get ready for new movements in the 4.0 technology wave.”

In addition to supporting candidates for the World Skills Competition, Samsung has also deployed other projects to enhance the quality of the Vietnamese workforce. Samsung wants to encourage Viet Nam to achieve more in the field of new technology. — VNS
