Samsung Viet Nam handed over 300 advanced thermal imaging cameras with a total value of VND4.5 billion (US$193,200) to Viet Nam Fire and Rescue Police Department on Friday in Ha Noi to help increase efficiency and safety in fire prevention and rescue activities.

Samsung’s IGNIS cameras are able to detect ignition points, locate victims, identify terrain and determine paths for fire-fighters to avoid. The cameras will help rescue victims and ensure the safety of fire-fighters.

Until now, Vietnam Fire and Rescue Police has only had 40 thermal imaging cameras.

Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, said: “It is essential to improve the equipment for the Viet Nam Fire and Rescue Police Department. We strongly believe that the 300 IGNIS thermal imaging cameras from Samsung Viet Nam will help the Fire and Rescue Police force be better equipped and perform with greater efficiency.”

Choi Joo Ho, President of Samsung Viet Nam, said: “Samsung Viet Nam is delighted that numerous local fire-fighters in Viet Nam will be equipped with our cameras, helping to strengthen their power to fulfil their duties and protect peaceful life for citizens.”

After receiving the cameras, the department will organise training course for officers and fire-fighters in 11 provinces to teach them how to best use the devices. — VNS
