HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — The Saigon Union of Trading Co-operatives (Saigon Co.op) and the HCM City chapter of the Viet Nam Women's Union have signed an agreement to expand the programme to sell price-stabilised products.

Under the agreement signed on Monday, the two sides will co-operate to implement three key programmes.

The first is to organise welfare programmes to help VWU members overcome financial difficulties to build happy families.

Secondly, they will encourage VWU members to use Vietnamese goods.

Finally, they will develop the operations of their joint-venture shops to further expand the distribution of price-stabilised goods and high-quality Vietnamese products in residential areas, industrial parks and export processing zones.

They will also train women workers to help them better integrate with urban life.

Tran Thi Phuong Hoa, deputy chairwoman of the VWU, said there are now 80 of the joint-venture shops called "Hoi phu nu-Co-op" (Women's Union-Co.op) and 10 price stabilised sale points in 17 districts in the city.

Nguyen Thanh Nhan, general director of Saigon Co.op, said the supermarket chain would focus on quickly expanding its distribution network in residential areas, industrial parks and export processing zones. — VNS
