HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Saigon Co.op is set to establish Viet Nam's first consumer co-operative and offer membership to all customers holding member and VIP cards in its Co.opmart chain of supermarkets.
Speaking to the media in HCM City on April 7, Nguyen Anh Duc said customers can contribute from VND100,000 (US$4.8) to VND6 billion ($269,058) to the co-operative to become members.
Saigon Co.op will contribute VNĐ100,000 towards each member's capital in the first year, and the members are free to buy more shares.
Members would receive dividends based on their capital contribution and purchases and enjoy many benefits like exclusive promotions, he said.
Vo Hoang Anh, Saigon Co.op's marketing director, said two new business models would be launched - e-commerce and Co.opmart outlets targeting the high-end segment.
