Vico Quang Tri Co will join hands with the French Saint-GoBain Group to build a calcium silicate board plant expected to cost US$10 million in the first phase in the central province of Quang Tri.
The plant’s construction follows a co-operation agreement inked between the two companies in the province on Saturday, online newspaper baodautu.vn reported
Located in Hai Xuan Commune, Hai Lang District, the plant will have a designed production capacity of 5-8 million metres of calcium silicate annually. Calcium silicate is commonly used as a safe alternative to asbestos for high-temperature insulation materials.
In his speech at the event, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chinh spoke highly of the launch of the plant, which would contribute to the local budget and create more local jobs.
With the province’s untapped potential for hi-end contruction materials, Chinh called on the French group to build more plants in the locality.
Local authorties would create favourable conditions for the firm to implement projects here, the chairman said. — VNS
