BINH DUONG (Biz Hub) — Procter & Gamble Vietnam has been conferred the Labour Order, Second Class, for its contribution to the country's socio-economic development over the past 20 years, and the award was handed over by Binh Duong authorities on May 12.

"This is a landmark for our ceaseless efforts and our outstanding contribution to the growth of Viet Nam's society and economy," P&G general manager Emre Olcer told the ceremony.

In March the company began construction of a US$100 Gillette razor production facility that will take 12 months to complete, and this took its investment in Viet Nam to US$360 million.

It already has a plant each making hair-care and laundry baby-care products in Binh Duong – products like Ariel, Downy, Tide, Pampers, Pantene, and Head & Shoulders.

The company has been achieving two-digit growth for years.

Its social programmes like building houses for the poor in the Cuu Long Delta have helped improve the living standards of over 200,000 underprevileged people.

To mark the award, the company's employees planted 300 trees in Binh Duong New City. — VNS
